Gloves and Mitts
Overview: Gloves and Mitts
Final Advanced Materials has expanded its product shelf for high temperature protection with a range of Zetex® gloves and mitts by Newtex.
For nearly 40 years, Newtex has been a pioneer and leading global producer of high-performance materials and engineered solutions for thermal management and fire protection since 1978. Newtex is an ISO 9001:2015 certified, vertically integrated manufacturer of an impressive portfolio of heat & fire-resistant fabrics, tapes, personal protective apparel, and custom high temperature solutions.
Hand Protection
Newtex high temperature, heat, and fire-resistant gloves and mitts are made from Zetex®, ZetexPlus®, Z-Flex®, and aramid fabrics to resist temperatures up to 1,095 °C while providing outstanding comfort, insulation, wear resistance, and protection from sparks and molten metal splash. All hand protection is double stitched and reinforced for durability. They are only made of inorganic fibers to ensure that they will not produce hazardous out-gassing. All hand protection is one size fits all, designed to fit loosely so that they can be removed quickly. Custom products are available with minimum order requirements.
Applications of Gloves and Mitts
- Kiln & furnace operations in laboratories,
- Heat processing facilities
- High temperature industrial environments
- Foundry & glass operations
- Welding
- Hot works
- Industrial and proximity fire fighting
Comparative
Gloves vs. Mitts
We recommend gloves for applications that require dexterity, and mitts for applications in which additional heat protection and longer wear are important.
Mitts are reversible, as either mitt can be worn on the left or right hand. If the palm of a mitt gets damaged, the wearer can flip the mitt and wear it on the opposite hand to extend the life of the product.
Our Range of Gloves and Mitts
Zetex® 100 Series Gloves & Mitts
Zetex® fabrics are woven from highly texturized continuous filament yarn that has been treated with a proprietary texturization process. Zetex® is a superior insulator and provides excellent heat protection, withstanding continuous operating temperatures up to 540 °C and intermittent temperatures up to 700 °C. Made from inorganic materials, these gloves and mitts will not produce hazardous out-gassing
Applications
- Kiln & furnace operations in laboratories
- Heat processing facilities
- High temperature industrial environments
Product range
Zetex® 100 Series Gloves & Mitts: 100 % Zetex® construction for basic heat protection to 700 °C. Available as 28, 36, or 58 cm gloves or 28 or 36 cm mitts.
Zetex® Finger Cots: 100 % Zetex® construction for temperature resistance up to 700 °C. They are commonly used in laboratories and other environments in which the wearer must handle small or delicate hot objects, like test tubes.
Zetex® 200 Series Gloves & Mitts
ZetexPlus® fabric is woven from highly texturized continuous filament yarns and treated with a proprietary vermiculite-based coating. The proprietary coating allows heat to dissipate evenly across the surface of the fabric, significantly boosting its temperature rating and improving abrasion resistance. ZetexPlus® gloves and mitts can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to 815 °C and intermittent temperatures up to 1,095 °C.
Applications
- Kiln & furnace operations in laboratories
- Heat processing facilities
- High temperature industrial environments
Product range
ZetexPlus® 200 Series Gloves & Mitts: 100 % ZetexPlus® construction for temperature resistance up to 1 095 °C and moderate abrasion resistance. Available as 28, 36, or 58 cm gloves or mitts.
ZetexPlus® 220 Series Gloves & Mitts, double palm: ZetexPlus® construction with a double layer of ZetexPlus® at the palm and thumb for greater durability and extended protection from temperatures up to 1,095°C. Available as 36 or 58 cm gloves or mitts.
ZetexPlus® 250 Investment Casters Mitts: The 250 Mitts feature added layers of fiberglass insulation for extended protection from extreme temperatures. These mitts are specifically designed for investment casting operations.
ZetexPlus® 255 Over-mitts, 25 cm: 100 % ZetexPlus® construction, designed to be worn on top of another pair of high temperature mitts to provide extra protection and to extend the life of the more expensive mitts worn underneath.
Zetex® 300 Series Gloves & Mitts
Z-Flex® Multilayer Aluminized gloves provide superior protection from extreme radiant temperatures, sparks, and molten metal splash. They can withstand radiant temperatures up to 1,650 °C and reflect up to 95 % of radiant heat.
Applications
- Foundry & glass operations
- Welding
- Hot works
- Industrial and proximity fire fighting
Product range
Z-Flex® 300 Aluminized Gloves: 100 % Z-Flex® construction for total radiant heat protection up to 1,650 °C. Not recommended for direct contact with objects over 175 °C.
Z-Flex® 301 Gloves (Zetex® Palm): Z-Flex® construction with a Zetex® palm and thumb for radiant heat protection and protection from direct contact with objects up to 700 °C.
