Z-Flex® Fabrics

Z-Flex® Fabrics consist of a fibreglass base and an aluminium coating that provide good resistance to flames and splashes from molten metals. In addition, they reflect up to 95% of the radiant heat, which can reach 1650°C for a contact temperature of 175°C. There are two main types of Z-Flex® fabrics.

Z-Flex®: Textured Zetex® Fabrics

Three different Z-Flex® products with a textured Zetex® fibre base. An ideal combination of thermal insulation and protection against radiant heat:

  • Z-Flex® A-301: Lightweight, high thermal insulation capacity. Fabric with PTFE protective coating (water, oil). Maximum 550°C on contact.

  • Z-Flex® A-601: Average weight for insulation and flexibility. 550°C maximum on contact. Textured Zetex® fabric with PTFE protective coating (water, oil) that increases abrasion resistance. The most economical solution.

  • Z-Flex® A-801: Optimum insulation and protection. The thickest Zetex® textured fabric at 1.5 mm. Provides the best protection against thermal convection, sparks and splashes/spray from molten metals.

The use of Zetex® fabric improves thermal insulation and protection against extreme heat.

Z-Flex®: Continuous Filament Fabric

Six different Z-Flex® products with a continuous filament fabric base to suit all applications:

  • Z-Flex® F-407: Durable, thin, lightweight, economical coating fabric. Performance equivalent to rayon. The PTFE protective coating (water, oil) increases abrasion resistance.

  • Z-Flex® F-621: The lightest. Continuous filament E fibre fabric. Radiant heat protection equivalent to thicker fabrics, resistance up to 550°C.

  • Z-Flex® F-824: Durable coating fabric. Continuous filament satin, E-fibre fabric. The most comfortable, with excellent puncture and tear resistance.

  • Z-Flex® K-730: Radiant heat protection, cut and abrasion resistance. Glass/aramid fabric for medium temperature applications. Ideal protection against cuts and wear.

  • Z-Flex® R-750 & R-751: Flexible rayon, plain & twill fabric. For low-temperature applications. Flexible and comfortable fabric, easy to cut and sew

More economical, these fabrics are also lighter and allow greater freedom during handling and installation.
