High Temperature Z-Tuff® and Z-Shield® Fabrics 540°C
Our partner Newtex offers a wide range of fire resistant and temperature resistant products since 1978. The Zetex® range presents a great variety of heat resistant textiles which can withstand temperatures up to 1,095 °C. Due to their characteristics and performances, these products are ideal for fire protection.
Z-Tuff® Fabrics - Silicone & PTFE, up to 315 °C
Z-Tuff® are fabrics coated with silicone or PTFE. These treatments offer superior resistance to chemicals, abrasion, moisture, and heat.
Silicone is a rubbery, abrasion resistant coating available in gray or red. Silicone fabrics provide better UV, water, and abrasion resistance than PTFE fabrics. PTFE is a smooth, non-reactive coating, ideal for applications where added toughness and chemical resistance are required.
Silicone fabric can withstand operating temperatures up to 260 °C and PTFE fabric can withstand temperatures up to 315 °C. Z-Tuff® Silicone and PTFE Fabrics both feature a fiberglass cloth base beneath the high temperature coating. The fiberglass cloth can withstand temperatures up to 540 °C, even if the silicone or PTFE coating burns off.
Applications of Z-Tuff® Fabrics
- Insulation jacketing
- Welding curtains
- Blankets and covers for equipment protection

Z-Shield® Welding Fabrics, up to 540°C
Z-Shield® welding fabrics are used in industries like shipbuilding, power generation, chemical processing, oil and gas for welding spark protection for both people and equipment, molten metal splatter, and hot works operations. Z-Shield® welding fabrics are woven from fiberglass yarns and coated with a fire-resistant acrylic for superior resistance sparks, abrasion, slag, and burn-through.
- Z-Shield® Silver : acrylic coating with silver pigment used to reflect radiant heat. Protection against abrasion, heat and sparks.
- Z-Shield® Gold & Black : similar to Z-Shield® Silver. Mostly used as a welding blanket.
- Z-Shield® Salmon : coated with Z-Fil® fabric. Flexible protective fabric, good for draping.
- Z-Shield® Hullboard (HB) : These lightweight fire resistant fabrics are intended for use as hull board covering or lagging for acoustic and thermal insulation and fireproofing.
Applications of Z-Shield® Fabrics
- Insulation jacketing
- Welding curtains
- Outer side of equipment
