High temperature Sewing Threads
Overview: High Temperature Sewing Threads
Final Advanced Materials offers high temperature resistant sewing threads up to 1,700 °C. These products are mainly used for the manufacture of thermal protections and protective clothing. They are coated with PTFE to facilitate sewing. This coating disappears during application from 150 °C without altering the qualities of the thread.
Applications of Sewing Threads
- Protective clothing
- Airbags
- Ballistics (bullet-proof vests)
- Composite materials
- Air dust extraction filters (hot gas filtration)
- Tires (reinforcement)
- Gaskets
- Webbing

Our Range of Sewing Threads
Aramid Fibre Sewing Threads, up to 350 °C
Aramid fibre threads are known for their excellent thermal and mechanical properties. Moreover, these products are self-extinguishing, non-fusible as well as resistant to abrasion and have high breaking strength. They are therfore ideal for protective applications.
Final Advanced Materials proposes two different types of threads in aramid fibre.
Para-aramid Kevlar® threads are used in many fields with high-tech applications as they are mainly known for their superior mechanical properties. They can withstand operating temperatures up to 170 °C and peak temperatures up to 350 °C.
Meta-aramids Nomex® threads are mainly used in the fields of technical textiles and protective clothing. They are valued for their thermal and chemical characteristics. They can withstand operating temperatures up to 200 °C and peak temperatures up to 300 °C.
Final Advanced Materials offers meta-aramid or para-aramid fibre threads in size ranging from 25 to 140 tex.
Applications
- Protective clothing
- Safety shoes
- Airbags
Glass Fibre Sewing Threads, up to 700 °C
E-glass fibre threads can withstand operating temperatures up to 550 °C and peak temperatures up to 700 °C. They are coated with PTFE to facilitate their sewing. E-glass fibre stands out from other materials for its resistance to high-temperatures and its great electrical insulation properties. Its flexibility allows the manufacture of strong sewing threads suitable for the assembly of heat protection as well as thermal, dielectric and chemical insulation.
The E-glass fibre threads coated with PTFE proposed by Final Advanced Materials are available in sizes ranging from 70 to 430 tex.
Applications
- Clothing
- Weaving
- Braiding
Ceramic Fibre Sewing Threads, up to 1,400 °C
Ceramic fibres threads are primarily designed for thermal, electrical and mechanical applications subjected to extreme conditions. They are mainly composed of alumina (Al2O3) at different percentages depending on their use. They are resistant to operating temperatures up to 1,400 °C. Their excellent resistance to abrasion and mechanical stress makes them particularly suitable for sewing.
Applications
- Making fire protections
- Manufacture of dielectric and chemical insulators
