The ceramic fibre proposed by Final Advanced Materials offers great mechanical and thermal properties, outperforming those of other fibrous materials, including aramid, silica, quartz, or glass. This innovative continuous and polycrystalline fibre is mainly made of alumina (Al2O3) at different percentages. The metallic oxides composing it make its transformation into ceramic textile particularly easy.
Ceramic tapes are suitable for applications involving operating temperatures up to 1,250 °C and peak temperatures up to 1,350 °C. They are therefore ideal for the thermal and electrical insulation as well as the protection of cables, tubes and pipes and for the reinforcement of assembled products.
The ceramic tapes proposed by Final Advanced Materials are available untreated or with a heat cleaned or a heat treated finish. These treatments can reduce irritation during handling, minimise airborne fibres, and decrease the amount of smoke produced at high temperatures. They can also prevent the degradation of the fibre if the products are subjected to hot and humid environments for an extended period.

Whether for insulation or protection applications, high-temperature tapes are frequently used in the industry, on manifolds, tubes and exhausts. Final Advanced Materials produces fibreglass tapes with excellent insulating properties up to 550°C, and basalt fibre tapes which combine insulation and thermal stability up to 700°C and also have a natural bronze colour without treatment. These tapes can be coated with silicone to meet sealing needs.
Basalt fibres and ceramic fibres are inorganic fibres which are resistant to very high temperatures: 700°C and 1,100°C respectively. They are used in the industry or the aeronautics sector for insulation and protection applications, primarily thermal protection. Both these fibres have excellent temperature resistance and effective thermal and electrical insulation. The temperature they will be exposed to is the main factor determining the choice of tape. If it is lower than 700°C, we recommend a basalt fibre tape which is more cost-effective.
Like most inorganic fibres, high-temperature fibreglass tapes are sensitive to abrasion. Final Advanced Materials offers tapes with surface treatments to improve this resistance. Certain coatings, such as silicone, also make the material waterproof, while others, like vermiculite, increase short-term temperature resistance or reduce slag formation.
