High temperature bulk Fibres

High temperature bulk fibres

Overview: High Temperature Bulk Fibres

Final Advanced Materials offers bulk fibres for high and very high temperature applications. The product consists of a mass of randomly orientated, long, fluffy, resistant fibres. It allows the making of tailor-made products that are particularly light yet efficient. Bulk fibres offer excellent manoeuvrability and fit every space. However, this conditioning is only possible with biosoluble and zirconia fibres.

Applications of Bulk Fibres

  • Tamping for thermal insulation
  • Vacuum moulding
  • Additives in ceramic fibre products
  • Thermal insulation for industrial ovens

Our Range of Bulk Fibres

Biosoluble Bulk Fibres, up to 1,200 °C

It has excellent thermal stability and retains its flexible fibrous structure up to a temperature of 1,000 °C. It contains no binders and emits no smoke or odor when first heated. It is available lubricated for use when filling or as expansion joints. The non-lubricated version is particularly useful for vacuum forming. The fibres are insensitive to thermal shock and absorb very little energy when heated.

This range of product contains no binders or lubricants and emits no smoke or odour when heated. Biosoluble fibres felts are an ideal solution to replace ceramic fibres.

The fibres are available in short, medium, long and extra-long sizes. The level of thermal conductivity depends on the degree of compression during installation. The non-lubricated version is particularly adapted to vacuum moulding.

Applications

  • Tamping for thermal insulation
  • Vacuum moulding
  • Textile manufacturing
  • Expansion joint

Zirconium Oxide Bulk Fibres, up to 2,200 °C

Zirconium oxide bulk fibres type ZYBF are yttria stabilized zirconia fibres available in three different forms, all having useful properties up to 2,200 °C. These polycrystalline fibres can be vacuum formed into rigid shapes, placed into cavities as loose fill insulation, or added to ceramic bodies and coatings for reinforcement.

ZYBF fibre is the result of the Zircar Process which uses transforms an organic fibre into a ceramic fibre. The new fibre usually has a diameter of 6 to 10 μm and a serrated outer side.

ZYBF have an exceptional resistance and stability to high temperatures. It resists particularly well in aggressive chemical environments. Its light structure stores very little heat and allows for a low thermal conductivity.

Applications

  • Creation of rigid shapes under vacuum moulding
  • Additive in ceramic fibre vacuum formed products to improve refractoriness.
  • Additive to our Zirconia Cement Type ZR-CEM and used as a coating or as a filler for holes, bonding of mis-matched surfaces, and repairing cracks and openings in furnace walls composed of zirconia insulation.
  • Insulation filing of cavities or furnace packing
  • Thermal insulation in many industrial furnace applications
  • Thermal insulation in aggressive chemical environments
