High Temperature Twisted Ropes
Overview: High Temperature Twisted Ropes
Final Advanced Materials supplies various ranges of high-temperature-resistant twisted ropes. The maximum peak temperature resistance is 1,260 °C. Various compositions are available, for the optimum fulfilment of individual requirements: Zetex®, silicate, biosoluble fibre and glass fibre. These products are primarily employed as insulating seals, and are particularly renowned in the glass-making industry, or for use in industrial furnaces.
Applications of Twisted Ropes
- Insulating seals
- Thermal insulation
- Insulation of pipes and exhausts
- Sealing gaskets for industrial furnaces and boilers

Our Range of Twisted Ropes
E-Glass Fibre, up to 700 °C
E-glass fibre twisted ropes are manufactured using filaments with a diameter ranging from 6 to 9 µm. They present great electrical insulation properties and are used in the industry in applications involving peak temperatures up to 700 °C and operating temperatures up to 550 °C.
E-glass fibre twisted ropes are available in diameters ranging from 3 to 60 mm.
Applications
- High-temperature gaskets for industrial furnaces and chimneys
- Thermal protection
- Electrical insulation of cables and pipes
Zetex® Fibre, up to 700 °C
Our Zetex® twisted ropes are made of twisted fiberglass and commonly used in high temperature sealing and packing applications involving hot air, steam, water, fluids, or gases. They are resistant to most acids and alkalis, and won't shrink, stretch, or unravel. Twisted ropes are a conformable and economical product used for sealing boilers and oven and furnace doors, including those with uneven surfaces. They are available in diameter of 6 mm, 12 mm, 12 mm, 20 mm et 25 mm as well as in ZetexPlus® version.
Applications
- Heat insultation
- Insulation of pipes and tailpipes
- Sealing boilers and oven & furnace doors
Square- or rectangular-section E-glass fibre ropes are also available on request. Resistant to a peak temperature of 550 °C, these products have excellent flexibility and mechanical resistance. They are available in various dimensions, ranging from 4x4 mm to 60x60 mm, and from 6x4 mm to 60x25 mm in the case of rectangular sections.
Biosoluble Fibre, up to 1,260 °C
Ropes may be reinforced with refractory steel or glass fibre. They remain soft and flexible, even at very high temperatures. These products contain 20 % organic binder, in order to facilitate the carding process. The binder is lost as the temperature rises, without affecting the remainder of the product.
Applications
- Insulation of industrial furnaces
- Insulation of boilers
- Insulating seals
Silicate Fibre, up to 1,200 °C
Silicate fibre twisted ropes are inorganic and contain no toxic substances. Thanks to the diameter of 9 µm of the fibres of their composition, they pose no health risk during handling. These twisted ropes are therefore an excellent alternative to asbestos products and ceramic fibres. These products offer great mechanical but also thermal properties. As they can withstand peak temperatures up to 1,200 °C and operating temperatures up to 1,000 °C, they are used in the industry for the assembly of heat protections or sealing joints.
The silicate fibre twisted ropes provided by Final Advanced Materials are available with sections ranging from 3 to 12 mm.
Applications
- Sealing joint
- Heat protection
